Where Is The Grill Made?

Letter From the IPT Pellet Grills Founder

This is a rough and tough question to answer given the anti-Chinese backlash in this country and with the down turn in the US economy. IPT believes in truthful answers so here it is.

Some parts of the grill are purchased in China but many parts are not. If you added up the entire cost of the unit the vast majority of the cost needed to produce this unit go to American suppliers and not Chinese.

Some examples of the American companies and the parts provided that are used in our product are:

The Forrest Paint company which is based in Eugene where all of it’s paint is manufactured. It should be noted that we at IPT choose to use this high temperature paint good for up to 1200 degrees F even when we had the option to use a less expensive Chinese manufactured paint like some of our competiors under the brand Sherwin Williams.  That paint was only available as a mid high temp and we choose to take the high road and go with the best product avail from the most established company in high temp coatings.

Our ignitor which is the most likely part to fail in all pellet grills is made by a company in Chicago called Tempco. We know we have a competitor that uses the inexpensive Chinese knock off version and only uses this company to ship as a warranty part when their Chinese part has failed. We only use the USA made ignitor from the start and if it fails in the first year we will replace it for free. If our part fails after a year you will be able to purchase a replacement for just 10% above our cost, where our competitor makes parts available through their dealer network at over 100% markup.

Our controller is supplied through Ortech and while yes it is similar to our competitor as they used to produce and supply our competitor. This was intentional we intend to be able to offer parts to service all the old exsisting contollers of owners of our competitor at a fraction of the current prices your have to pay for replacement parts from  their  dealers. Also as Ortech finishes up with their new bad *** controller they are working on you can upgrade from us. In reality our current controller is very different as you will learn once Larry and Bentley are done with the evaluation of our grill you will see what we did diffferently from our competitors.

Our Stainless Steel lid hinges are also produced in the USA at a substantial cost, from a company in Ohio

Due to the fact that our grill is made of 16 g steel and the lid and grease tray is fully welded not spot or stitched some of pure metal parts are made in China and shipped to the USA. We considered building 100% percent of the unit in the states, but because the two largest pellet manufacturers had already started having full mfg in China we as a company were left with very little choice, if we were going to be competitive on cost. Our first units were produced 100 percent in the USA but the production cost was prohibitive, but we still do as much as we can here, to support the local economy.

Our units are built and put together here at our location in Kennesaw, Georgia.  Here they are tested and burned in for hours before delivery so when you the consumer get your grill you can count on it working.

Your grill will come to you fully assembled, delivered by a freight company to the edge of your driveway with a lift gate.  You the end consumer will be pleased as it will arrive undamaged by an American Carrier.

It should be noted that the freight company that does bring some of our metal, parts in from China and other parts of the world is also a US company based right in Atlanta, GA.

IPT is committed to quality and customer service and our no questions asked warranty backs that up. Regardless of where some of our steel and metal fabrication is done I believe we are on safe ground calling this an American product as over 70 percent of the cost to build a unit is spent with American companies. So you decide if it is a US made product or an overseas product, as we aren’t sure how to answer, but the facts are written above about how we came to make and manufacture a quality pellet grill and an affordable price that we believe you the consumer will enjoy for years to come, all while supporting the US economy in the process.
